Volunteering with City Centre Care Society“Volunteers Make A Difference!” Did you know you can enrich your life and the life of a senior by becoming a volunteer at City Centre Care Society? Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and share life experiences with others. It also helps to make our community a sharing and caring one. Volunteering can also contribute to your personal and professional development. Volunteer OpportunitiesOur volunteers fall into three categories: program volunteers, resource volunteers, and one-to-one visiting volunteers.
Program Volunteers - help to plan, assist or carry out program activities such as bingo, bowling, bus trips, sing-a-longs, games, outdoor walks, crafts, and more. Resource Volunteers - are individuals or groups who can share their talents with our residents. Musicians, singing groups, dancers, slide shows, pet visits -- all of these can be worked into our regular programming with your help. One-to-One Visiting Volunteers - are individuals who make personal, one-on-one visits with our residents. You may come to share an activity such as a walk, letter writing or to enjoy a game of cards. Often, just being a good listener provides the most support. Volunteer QualificationsWe invite you to become a volunteer at City Centre Care Society. We require completion of a Criminal Record Check and a TB Screening Test to qualify as a volunteer. You must also care about seniors and enjoy working with them and have some ability to assist physically or mentally challenged individuals. We also look for reliability and a commitment to attend weekly program(s) · Being flexible and able to take direction from facility staff are also good assets.
